All emotional life is worth paying attention to, and if we can learn how to pay attention to it mindfully, it will liberate itself, and therefore enlighten us.

For time immemorial, the mandala has held a profound significance, particularly in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Often beautifully made, it offers a road map of sorts, one to awakening, representing the spiritual journey. To better understand it, The Rubin Museum created The Mandala Lab which takes you through the five challenging emotions represented in mandalas and the ways those can be harnessed for insight and wisdom. These include Pride, Attachment, Envy, Anger and Ignorance.

In this 7 part series, hosted by singer and songwriter Raveena Aurora, we speak with world-leading Buddhist teachers, activists, authors, chefs, and others about their own understandings and experiences with these emotions and the ways in which art, like mandalas, can help support and guide us towards a deeper sense of our life and purpose.
