If you’re asking me about why music education is important, it begs the question, why is music important? And music, to me, is like water. It’s just like breathing. It’s waking up in the morning... If I don’t have music, then I don’t have life.

We all remember that one teacher who really changed our lives, the one who made us think and feel differently, and believe in ourselves differently, the one that made us believe in ourselves.

Great Music Teaching, a podcast from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, takes listeners on a journey through foundational tenets of music education: Improvise, Notice, Express, Empower, Cultivate, and Unearth.

With interviews from teachers, musicians, students, and, of course, music from across the country, we invite you into the classrooms and hearts of these extraordinary people navigating the complex road of education and the arts.
