Exploring the iconic objects that have shaped the culture we live in today

Benny Goodman’s clarinet, Ella Fitzgerald’s eyeglasses, Judy Garland’s signed 1961 album cover, Opening Night Ticket. These are all selections from Carnegie Hall’s extraordinary archive and in this series, we select objects from that archive that reflect and shape the culture we live in today. In each episode, we interview archivists, scholars, historians, cultural critics, musicians and others to paint a sonic picture of a place and time that changed the world. Carnegie Hall is one of the most important cultural centers in the US and through this series, we hope to shine a light on the role of a cultural institution and the many ways culture is both interpreted and realized.
